Red glare of rockets….

Well, as Maryke has written, everyone we root for has been getting knocked out. Like her, I’m not sure who should go out in the semifinal, but I think maybe the clan Ikea?

Can't say who we're supporting from this point in, since we don't wanna jinx anyone else 🤪!

Wellington has been great. After the Dutch lost to Spain, we trekked back from the stadium where normally Wellington's A-league team called the Phoenix play to the hotel. Turned out it was further than we would've liked, but we made it. Next time we take transportation!

In the room and warming up since despite the sun shining, being in the shade near the waterfront meant we were chilled all game.

Just before the 2nd quarterfinal game between Japan and Sweden began there was all sorts of loud explosions and booms and stuff. Couldn't quite see from our room but apparently Wellington was sending its last night as a host city out with quite a bang

The museum we saw the day before had exhibits on wildlife including a lot of extinct species unique to New Zealand, like Moas. There's no belief the Moas are still around, but I swear in the middle of the night I heard a strange screech of some kind that could've been from those flightless birds.

Friday night also meant the young kiwis were out to make some noise too. Meanwhile Maryke & I felt more like just slothing it thru the rest of the night.

Be careful who roots for ya, ya might be cursed to exit the tournament!
